Rafi Amit Player Profile

Rafi Amit is an Israeli professional poker player who has steadily become the biggest cash game winner of 2011 with roughly $1.7 million in Pot Limit Omaha winnings. Amit has won two World Series of Poker bracelets; one in the 2005 $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha event and the other in the 2007 $1,000 Deuece to Seven Triple Draw Lowball with rebuys event. Although not primarily a tournament player, he has over $950k in live tournament earnings. Amit was born in 1980 and hails from Holon, Israel.

In a USA Today interview Amit admitted his early days in poker were tough
"In Israel, if you're a poker player, it's like you're a drug dealer. My family was like, 'You're losing your money, you're losing your mind.'"
With his continued success in online and live environments, acceptance has increased. August and September have seen his cash winnings increase by $1 million in the active PokerStars games. Amit is poised to join the world's elite in the game if his winnings continue.
