BLAST's next Dota 2 tournament will feature 12 teams, with the final six set to compete at the Singapore Indoor Stadium this November.
BLAST Slam IV, the fourth edition of BLAST's Dota 2 tournament series, is on the horizon–set to pit 12 teams in an online setting, before bringing the final six teams to compete live at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The tournament will run from 14 October to 9 November, with the final three days open for live audiences. Apart from being a US$1 million event hosting the world’s best teams, BLAST Slam IV will also be the first major tournament of the new season.
BLAST Slam IV will showcase the current forms of teams post-The International which wrapped up just a month ago. Additionally, this will be the first Tier 1 event hosting the Patch 7.39e–though minor, had notably nerfed many favored items and heroes from TI. Plus, Kez has been added to Captain's Mode, meaning we'll likely see him finally debut at a major event soon.
As the tournament approaches, the full participant lineup is confirmed. The qualifiers ended with four teams making it from these regions: Europe, China, and Southeast Asia. BLAST had also finalised its list of teams with several changes from its initial invite list.

BLAST Slam IV to field many changed team rosters
The fourth edition of BLAST underwent changes to its lineup following updates from teams.
PARIVISION had declined the direct invite as the players opt to rest up before diving into the new season.
PARIVISION was arguably the best-performing team last season and their absence is no doubt a bummer for fans. But taking over PARIVISION’s slot is MOUZ, bringing their own exciting storyline and a newly revamped roster–featuring former
Evil Geniuses trio, Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop,
Tal “Fly” Aizik, and
sam “Bulba” Sosale.
Talon Esports have also been replaced by Execration as the region’s host team. Though no reason is provided, it is likely that Talon couldn’t field a roster for the event.
Execration had experienced a rough year so far, only managing an Esports World Cup Dota 2 qualification though ended up exiting early in last place. However, the team will now have a chance to prove themselves once again on the top-tier stage.
While the rest of the lineup remain unchanged, we will see many freshly adjusted rosters compete.
Team Liquid, having parted with Jonáš “SabeRLighT-” Volek and
Aydin “iNsania” Sarkohi, now boasts a high-profile duo,
Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard and
Erik “tOfu” Engel in the offlane. Meanwhile, Team Spirit will play with a new position 5,
Nikita “Pantomem” Balaganin, as
Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov opts for a break.
Tundra Esports now fields Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko and
Matthew “Ari” Walker, recently benching
Remco “Crystallis” Arets and
Martin “Saksa” Sazdov. BetBoom Team will be playing with a new carry
Ilja “Kiritych” Uljanow in Pure’s former shoes.
Eyes will definitely be drawn to MOUZ’s star-studded stack, which aside from hosting the ex-EG members also fields Crystallis and the once-elite midlaner Nai Zheng “MidOne” Yeik.
We’ll also see a different HEROIC, as Adrian “Wisper” Cespedes Dobles switched role to play in the midlane. Taking over the offlane is
Cedric “Davai Lama” Deckmyn, who returns to play under the South American banner.
Aurora Gaming is a fun roster to look forward to, blending EEU players with SEA talent as they sign Chon Kien “Oli” Chan in the hard support position and bring
Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman as a stand-in midlaner. The team will also be coached by
Damien “kpii” Chok, who formerly coached Team Liquid.
Yakult Brothers saw two player changes with NICHOLAS LIM “zeal” ENG HAN and
Wilson “poloson” Koh Chin replacing
Xiang “Beyond” Zhenghong and Oli respectively. A newly-formed Team Aureus, fielding a full-Filipino lineup, will be tested in their debut event. Meanwhile NAVI, completely unchanged following TI, will continue to bring young potential at the tournament.
