Megabonk becomes The Game Awards Players' Voice nominee, after withdrawing from Debut Indie category

Genshin Impact, R.E.P.O., and Peak were also nominated.

The Game Awards officially unveiled its full list of nominees for the Players’ Voice category this week. The Players' Voice category is a 100% fan-voted category, as opposed to the usual split of public and jury-based votes. This year, the nominees include the roguelike survival game Megabonk, which was originally withdrawn by its developer Vedinad from the Best Debut Indie category.

Now, the game is back in the running at The Game Awards.

The Game Awards 2025 reveals Players’ Voice nominees

On 19 November, 2025, game developer Vedinad made waves by removing his new game Megabonk from The Game Awards contention. At the time, the game had been nominated in the Best Debut Indie Game category. The developer ultimately recused his game from the category, explaining that Megabonk wasn’t actually his first game, and that he had in fact developed different games before.

Megabonk was then removed from The Game Awards 2025 entirely–that is, until this week. The Game Awards 2025 officially unveiled its full list of nominees for the fully player-voted Players’ Voice category on Monday (1 December). Megabonk made the cut, along with many of this year’s favourites like Doom: The Dark Ages, Silent Hill f, and Split Ficiton.

Once the nominations were revealed, vedinad made no secret of his elation over the news via social media, saying:

“WE'RE SO BACK

Megabonk is nominated for The Game Awards - Player's Voice!!

I withdrew my other nomination due to Megabonk not fitting the category, but with this new nomination we're more back than ever.

go vote pls.”

The Players’ Voice category nominees are entirely decided by users casting votes on The Game Awards’ website. The category begins with 30 nominees all in all, which get whittled down over three rounds of voting until one game remains. Megabonk will have to survive all three rounds of voting to win, and it will have to contend with heavyweights like Arc Raiders and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in doing so.

Here are all the Players’ Voice nominees:

  • Arc Raiders
  • Battlefield 6
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (it's everywhere)
  • Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
  • Delta Force
  • Dispatch
  • Donkey Kong Bananza
  • Doom: The Dark Ages
  • Elden Ring Nightreign
  • Final Fantasy 14
  • Fortnite
  • Genshin Impact
  • Ghost of Yotei
  • Hades 2

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

  • Ninja Gaiden 4
  • No Man's Sky
  • Peak
  • REPO
  • Silent Hill f
  • Sonic Racing: Crossworlds
  • Split Fiction
  • Warframe
  • Wuthering Waves

Many returning favourites from previous years have made the cut as well, including live-service games like Wuthering Waves, Warframe, and Genshin Impact. At this point, it’s anyone’s game; Megabonk included.
