Alliance and Team Liquid secure playoff spots at the WCA 2015

Alliance and Team Liquid come out on top as they were able to secure the playoff spots from Group D at the World Cyber Arena 2015

The final LAN event of the year, WCA 2015 kicked off with games from Group D consisting of Digital Chaos, MVP Phoenix, Alliance and Team Liquid.  Top two teams in each group will advance to the playoffs and at the end of the day Alliance and Team Liquid were able to grab hold of those spots after some close games. It was vital for the teams to focus on the drafts as it had been hardly a day since the new patch was released. Heroes like Earth Spirit, Oracle and Terrorblade who have been included in the Captains mode were of focus.

The tournament proceeded with Alliance taking on MVP.Phoenix. Alliance were able to defeat MVP Phoenix with ease taking the series with a  clear 2-0 score. This game also saw the debut of Oracle in Pro Games which was played by Jerry ‘EGM’ Lundkvist who did a fantastic job being able to provide the damage and heals at crucial moments.

Immediately after this, Alliance had to go head on against Digital Chaos. Losing the first game after a dominating performance by Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev on the Alchemist, Alliance needed something more of their style. Gustav 's4' Magnusson opted to draft signature core heroes like Batrider and Naga Siren. Aggressive plays and spot on ganks made sure that Alliance were able to take Game two to tie the series.

Alliance who played Team Liquid in their last game of the group, weren’t able to come out on top. They were unable to make best use of unique picks like Lycan and Warlock. Alliance did shine at moments but Team Liquid were always a few steps ahead. Even though Alliance lost the series against Team Liquid, they were able to advance as Digital Chaos succumbed to MVP Phoenix with a 2 – 0 loss

Team Liquid the other team to qualify to the next round started of the day by playing against Digital Chaos. Team Liquid did have difficulties in the first game of the series as Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev played a spectacular Anti Mage making sure Digital Chaos won the game but the second game was a completely different story. The Combination of Tiny and Io for Liquid destroyed Digital Chaos. Helping themselves secure the second game Team Liquid were able to tie the series.

Liquid in their series against MVP Phoenix looked unstoppable. Ursa and Razor picks worked  for them perfectly the first game. Liquid also picked the Earth Spirit for Jesse ‘JerAx’ Vainikka who is known for his  plays in Pub Games with the hero. MVP Phoenix did try their best in the second game but in vain. Lasse ‘MATUMBAMAN’ Urpalainen on the Wraith King and Adrian ‘FATA-‘ Trinks on his signature Razor were able to demolish the hopes of MVP Phoenix’s to stay in the tournament. With two easy wins, Team Liquid were able to secure the series.

In the last match up for Team Liquid, they were against Alliance as mentioned above. It was a 2-0 in series win for Team Liquid. Adrian ‘FATA-‘ Trinks who played the Invoker in both the games was a sheer delight to watch. Lasse ‘MATUMBAMAN’ Urpalainen who also got his hands on Luna made some top notch plays. Dominating performances by the team and versatile drafts from Kuro 'KuroKy' Salehi Takhasomi sure does make Team Liquid as one of the the favourites in the tournament.
