Puppey has answered the call to coach for PARIVISION in DreamLeague Season 27.
A bombshell dropped today when Eastern European (EEU) powerhouse
PARIVISION announced legendary captain and The International (TI) 2011 champion Clement “Puppey” Ivanov as their coach for the upcoming DreamLeague Season 27.
The announcement revealed: “[Puppey] joins the PARIVISION Dota 2 roster as coach for DreamLeague S27. We thank Clement for his willingness to take on the coach role and help us in the upcoming tournament!”
Puppey will temporarily step into the shoes of Astini, who left the coaching seat vacant five days ago. Astini had been PARIVISION’s coach since the roster first formed last October and, during that period, found significant success. He won three major tournaments and placed third at both the landmark events–Dota 2 Esports World Cup and TI 2025.
However, PARIVISION stumbled into a rough start in the 2025/2026 season. They placed 9th–11th at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 and bowed out relatively early with a Top 6 finish at PGL Wallachia Season 6. The decline in results likely led to the shift in lineup, as Astini announced an abrupt departure just several days before DreamLeague Season 27 began.
This likely prompted PARIVISION to scout for a last-minute coach for the final tournament of the year, and to many’s surprise, Puppey answered the call.
Puppey steps into the coaching role for the first time
Puppey, a 35-year-old pioneer, is one of the most renowned figures in Dota 2—having won the first iteration of TI, led many rosters to dominance, and notably formed the prominent
Team Secret in 2015, which has been his home ever since.
Despite holding legendary status in the scene, Puppey has gradually faded from top-tier competition in recent years. His last successful campaign in competitive Dota 2 was in 2022, with a spectacular 2nd-place finish at TI. But since then, he has struggled to form a roster capable of consistently reaching the scene’s top echelon.
This year, Puppey only managed to play qualifiers, which yielded disappointing results. By June, Team Secret no longer fielded any active roster apart from Puppey himself and has been inactive in the professional scene.
However, the TI1 champion has been embarking on side quests, standing in for teams in relatively smaller tournaments, including qualifiers and a couple of FISSURE events.
Puppey stepping in to coach for PARIVISION marks a major pivot in his career, as it will be his first coaching stint. The temporary role will span the duration of DreamLeague Season 27, which takes place from 10–21 December.
DreamLeague Season 27 will be a significant showdown with a million dollars on the line, 24 teams in competition, and hefty ESL Pro Tour (EPT) points available. Unlike most tournaments at the end-of-year stretch, DreamLeague Season 27 will feature a mix of the strongest contenders and rising powerhouses.
PARIVISION will be looking to bounce back into form with Puppey at the helm.
