Blizzard teases Valeera on Twitter. You know, the rogue from Hearthstone?

Valeera plays a minor role in WoW lore but has become a major fan favorite in her own right thanks to Hearthstone. For those unaware of her backstory (or the Rehgar connection) let me explain.

The teaser

So we see green daggers that don't seem to agree that Rehgar was one of Azeroth's fiercest Gladiators. To those not entrenched in Warcraft lore, this may still be a mystery. But to the rest of us, it can only be one particular Bloodelf.

Valeera Sanguinar. She is the rogue class representative for Hearthstone, but there is more to her than just that.

This is a condensed version of Valeera's lore. For the full story, I suggest this link.

Valeera's parents were killed and she became a thief. One day, she stole from the wrong person and was captured, though it took a handful of guards to pin her down. Noticing her fighting strength, a fight promoter bought her and she was eventually sold to Rehgar who was an arena trainer well versed in the business of gladiator combat. Rehgar would go on to dominate gladiator rings all across the land with his incredible fighters, Valeera and Broll Bearmantle.

Pictured above: Valeera fighting alongside Broll Bearmantle. Fun Fact: Broll is the Druid of the Claw that Malfurion get's the "Storm Mantle Malfurion" skin from.
Make no mistake, Rehgar was a great trainer but this was enslavement. Valeera more than anything craves absolute freedom, so when Rehgar and crew find a washed up Varian (who had his memories erased and had no idea he was the king of Stormwind) she takes note of Varian's incredible fighting skill and befriends him. After their biggest Arena win ever in Dire Maul, Valeera was sold once again, but this time escaped.

Once Varian rediscovered his identity, Valeera reunited with him and Broll who had also escaped. Prior to her death, she served as advisor and bodyguard to King Varian and is absurdly loyal to him and his son Anduin. She has no particular allegiance to the Horde or Alliance.

Valeera in the Nexus

So the question remains: will we get Hearthstone Valeera who is best known for her incredible BM and close friendship with the auctioneers of Gadgetzan, or the World of Warcraft Valeera? Perhaps a mix of both? From the teaser, we know that whatever iteration of Valeera we meet, it will involve her signature green daggers and a healthy dislike for Orc Shamans.
