Fredrik "slayer" Østervold is a noted Norwegian StarCraft and poker player. He won the Korean major tournament KBK 2000 when he was only 16. Østervold transitioned to cash game poker when he was in University and worked his way up over the years to play $25-$50 up to $200-$400 NL playing 4-6 tables at a time. He has played largely under the radar with little interest in live tournament play but has had tremendous success on a variety of poker sites. Østervold was born in Norway in 1984 and lives in Bergen, Norway.

Østervold's last major tournament was WCG 2004, as StarCraft took too much time to compete at the highest levels.
Østervold went to University to study Economics but dropped out to play poker where he could make more money.
Østervold's initial $150 deposit was all he needed to launch his career that has made hundreds of thousands over the years. He ran well initially playing .25-.50 NL.
Østervold's parents supported his StarCraft immediately but took time to accept his poker career.
Østervold claims that many traits from StarCraft translate well to poker, and since most StarCraft players are lazy, it's a better fit with poker where you can play a few games a day and make a living.
Østervold played as "kirderf" online on some sites, winning around $180k, within the first 5 months of 2007.
Østervold also was quite successful on the Crypto network.
Østervold is known for being a disciplined non tilting player with a solid ABC game but having a very good read of his opponents.
