Control Resonant gameplay reveal dives into chaotic new zones and Dylan's deadly powers

New Aberrant forms and supernatural abilities reshape combat at every turn.

The world of Control is about to get even stranger. During the PlayStation State of Play on 12 February (SGT), Remedy Entertainment unveiled a fresh look at Control Resonant, their upcoming supernatural action game which was revealed last December during The Game Awards 2025.

A detailed PlayStation blog post accompanied the showcase, offering new insights into Dylan’s abilities, combat, and the warped environments players will face.

West Incursion Zone showcased in trailer

Gamers got a first glimpse of the West Incursion Zone, a sprawling area reshaped by otherworldly forces. At first glance, it seems familiar, but reality is actively breaking apart. Dylan navigates spaces where gravity twists unpredictably and architecture folds in on itself, creating vertical pathways, upside-down roads, and roofs acting as walkable bridges. The game isn’t open-world, but it features expansive zones filled with side activities, hidden encounters, and optional secrets, all while guiding players through a strong central narrative.

Dylan’s powers turn chaos into gameplay

Dylan’s supernatural toolkit is central to traversing these distorted landscapes. His Reach ability lets him bridge gaps and adapt to spaces that defy physics, while Shift enables him to redirect momentum on the fly. Combat is equally flexible thanks to the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon that can take forms such as Hammer, Blades, Scythe, and Fists. Players can unlock additional forms and tailor their loadouts to create a personalised combat flow. Supernatural abilities and combos can be upgraded and customised, letting you decide whether to dominate foes on the ground, in mid-air, or both.

New characters and bosses coming to Control Resonant

One of the new characters introduced is Zoe De Vera, an FBC Field Agent who guides Dylan through the supernatural chaos. Their relationship is key to the story, challenging him to confront his limits and retain his humanity amidst the unfolding crisis.

Players will also face Resonants, formidable boss enemies corrupted by the mysterious forces threatening reality. Defeating these powerful foes is essential, as each vanquished Resonant grants Dylan a new ability, expanding his combat options and reinforcing the game’s central premise: mastering Control Resonant means mastering the Resonants themselves.

Remedy promises that the West Incursion Zone is just a taste of the far stranger journey ahead. Control Resonant is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 in 2026, and fans can wishlist it now to be among the first to dive into this gravity-defying adventure.
