MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls launches this August, new X-Men join the playable roster

Wolverine, Magik, and Danger will join the fight.

Mutants are back in the spotlight, and players counting down to MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls finally have a release window locked in. During the PlayStation State of Play on 12 February (SGT), Arc System Works has confirmed that MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will launch on 6 August 2026 for PS5 and PC.

Alongside the release date, a new trailer showcased the latest additions to the roster, with further details shared in a PlayStation Blog post by producer Takeshi Yamanaka of Arc System Works.

The Unbreakable X-Men assemble with Wolverine, Magik, and Danger joining the fight

The trailer introduced Wolverine, Magik and Danger as newly revealed playable fighters, while Storm, who had already been confirmed as part of the earlier 20-character launch roster, steps into the spotlight as the team’s leader in the story.

Dubbed “The Unbreakable X-Men”, this re-assembled squad forms after a recent battle forces several core members off the front lines. With limited fighting strength available, Storm rises under the guidance of Charles Xavier to confront a looming threat closing in on Earth.

Wolverine enters the fray battle-scarred but unbroken, fighting with his Adamantium claws. Magik brings a mix of sorcery and close-quarters combat through her self-forged Soulsword. Danger, formerly the AI of the X-Men’s Danger Room training facility, now has autonomy and a physical form and is ready for combat.

As outlined in the blog post, mutants in the game’s narrative continue to face suspicion and hostility from humanity. Despite that, the reborn X-Men press on to protect the world, including those who persecute them. Yamanaka notes that players will see how this internal conflict shapes their decisions and how their story ultimately unfolds.

The game will also feature an Episode Mode developed in collaboration with Marvel Games. Blending American comics with Japanese manga, the story is presented through motion comics built around manga illustrations, with a renowned writer from the original Marvel comics contributing to the scenario. Full voice acting will support 10 languages, alongside PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech and DualSense features.
