Helldivers 2's Machinery of Oppression update brings Cyborgs and the Battle of Cyberstan

The Battle of Cyberstan is underway, as Helldivers confront the returning Cyborgs and new mechanical threats.

An old and familiar foe returns. The notorious Cyborg faction is back–fuelled “by rage and socialism”–prompting Arrowhead to mobilise all Helldivers in preparation for a historic Battle of Cyberstan, reminiscent of the devastating conflict fought 102 years ago.

In the February update, Arrowhead reveals that the Cyborgs have constructed vast megafactories, producing what they describe as the “most heinous machinery”–the very “rot of democracy” itself. With the Automatons now confirmed to have stolen the blueprints for the Cyborgs’ version of the Death Star–officially known as the Star of Peace–it appears the enemy is preparing to unleash its own weapon of mass destruction.

New Cyborg enemies introduced in the Battle of Cyberstan

Three new Cyborg enemies will greet Helldivers on Cyberstan: the Agitatorsthe Radicals, and the Vox Engine.

The Agitators serve as field commanders of the Automaton Legion. Heavily armoured, they are capable of directly commanding lower-ranked Automaton units on the battlefield.

The Radicals, described as the embodiment of contempt towards democracy itself, are outfitted with reinforced armour, cybernetics, and bio-enhancements. They fight at close range using heavy shotguns and techno-martial arts, making them especially dangerous in confined engagements.

Meanwhile, the Vox Engine, dubbed the “Voice of Cyberstan”, patrols the battlefield while broadcasting Cyborg propaganda. Armed with dual heavy laser cannons, rocket arrays, and gatling lasers for flanking defence, it serves as both a psychological and physical threat.

New weaponry announced ahead of battle

Buckle up, Helldivers–new firepower is on the way. Arrowhead has unveiled the TD220 Bastion, a direct evolution of the TD110 from the First Galactic War.

The Bastion is equipped with a 120mm main battle cannon capable of firing explosive shells, alongside a coaxially mounted heavy machine gun. The tank supports a full crew, including a driver, a gunner, and two additional passenger seats for support roles.

Prepare yourselves, Helldivers. You are being called upon to carve a path through the cities of Cyberstan, and lay siege to the capital once and for all.
