Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter Marathon to host open preview weekend
From 26 February to 2 March, 2026, you’ll be able to try Marathon out ahead of its full release during an open preview weekend. The preview will double as a Server Slam, testing the might of Marathon’s servers against as many players as possible, and an early introduction to the world of Tau Ceti IV.
The upcoming preview will allow players to explore two zones, Perimeter and Dire Marsh. They’ll also be able to take on opening contracts for five of Marathon’s factions, try out all six Runner Shells (and Rook in scavenger mode). They can also try out the game’s other features, including proximity chat and solo queue.
Anyone who tries out the preview will be able to pick up a few rewards that carry over to the game’s launch, including a special emblem and player banner. In addition to these cosmetics, players can earn a tiered gear package that includes weapons, body implants, and more at launch.
Season 1 of Marathon will add two more zones to the game, named Outpost and Cryo Archive, respectively. Full contract and progression trees will also be unlocked for all six factions, and a ranked mode will be added to the game.
Marathon will launch on 5 March, 2026.
