Hokori drop in the SA brawl at The International 2022

beastcoast takes the best-of-one to send Hokori home at The International 2022.

Best-of-ones are always a bit scrappy, always a bit intense, and always VERY emotional.

In the first of the bo1 elimination series at The International 2022, two South American teams went head-to-head.

Hokori had an absolutely stunning run in the group stage, defying expectations and turning the narratives upside down.

beastcoast, as usual, was quiet and flying under the radar with their middle-ground run. Something that has become a sort of MO for the team. Start slow and quiet and then sneak their way into top-6 results.

But Hokori didn't pay any mind to that pattern. They CHOSE to play against beastcoast, confident in their newly found intensity and pizazz.

beastcoast came out of the gate with a clean and confident swagger. They were hitting their timings, getting pickoffs, and slowing down Hokori early on. bc had some really good positioning and was able to read Hokori like a book, giving beastcoast the advantage and momentum to keep applying pressure.

Adrián "Wisper" Dobles crushed the game and his opponents with a flawless game on Batrider with an 18:0:7 record.  His dominance gave the Phantom Lancer full space to push forward.

Closing out the game in style, beastcoast dominated Hokori.

Hokori leaves with a 13-16th place finish and $254,368 in their pockets.

beastcoast will continue through the lower brackets to lock horns with Evil Geniuses tomorrow, October 21st at 10:00 CEST.

Three more teams will be eliminated today in the brutal bo1 series of the first round of lower brackets.

The International 2022

The International in Singapore will be the largest Dota tournament in history featuring 30 world-class teams battling out on the road to the Aegis of Champions across 4 consecutive weekends.

TI11 is expected to be held in Singapore from October 8th (starting with the offline/LAN last chance qualifiers) to October 30th with the grand finals.

On 22nd January 2022, it was announced that the second and third-place teams from each region's qualifiers would compete in the Last Chance Qualifier LAN event prior to The International to decide the final two qualification spots - thus expanding The International 2022 from 18 to 20 teams.
