Team Liquid reveal Malr1ne as new mid laner

Malr1ne will take over as Liquid's mid laner from Nisha, who took a break from competitive play in September.

Western European Dota 2 powerhouse Team Liquid have completed their roster for the 2026-2027 season by signing former Team Falcons mid laner Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak.

Malr1ne became a free agent in early September when Falcons announced its departure from the competitive Dota 2 scene. He will be taking over as Liquid's mid laner following Michał “Nisha” Jankowski's decision to take a break from competitive play in late September.

Liquid completes its roster for the new season with Malr1ne

The 2025-2026 season saw Liquid produce mixed results. While the team won two Tier 1 tournaments in BLAST Slam VI back in February and 1win Essence II in early August, their season ended with a disappointing 5th-6th place finish in The International (TI) 2026.

As a result, Liquid entered the 2026-2027 season with a retooled roster. The team's first move was signing Adrian “Wisper” Cespedes Dobles as their new offlaner, taking over from Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard. But following Nisha's departure, there were concerns that Liquid would struggle to find a suitable replacement. After all, Nisha was a perennial candidate for being the best mid laner in the world and played a pivotal role in Liquid's championship run at TI 2024.

Malr1ne is arguably one of the few players in the scene that can match Nisha in terms of impact. In his almost three years under the Falcons banner, Malr1ne helped the team become the most successful five-man roster in the history of Dota 2 esports as they won 523 of their 799 games together for a whopping 65.46% win rate. Malr1ne is also a TI champion, helping Falcons raise the Aegis of Champions in TI 2025, to go with eight other Tier 1 tournament victories.

With Malr1ne taking over as mid laner, here's how Liquid's roster for the 2026-2027 season is looking like:

  1. Micke “miCKe” Vu
  2. Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak.
  3. Adrian “Wisper” Cespedes Dobles
  4. Samuel “Boxi” Svahn
  5. Erik “tOfu” Engel
  6. William “BlitZ” Lee (coach)

Liquid is set to debut their complete new roster with Malr1ne in PARI Universe, an online Tier 1 tournament taking place from 22 October to 1 November.

Liquid's signing of Malr1ne is the latest major development in the ongoing post-TI 2026 roster shuffle. Check out GosuGamers' post-TI 2026 roster shuffle tracker to keep track of how the competitive Dota 2 landscape will look like for the 2026-2027 season.
