The Competitive Recap: We list what you might have missed (August 5th - August 11th)

A lot is currently happening, and so it has become increasingly hard to keep track of everything that happened in a week. To help with that, we have compiled this Competitive Recap.

Released every week we will try to congest every tournament and important news that has happened since the last recap. Whether you are interested in the bigger news, or want to stay updated on changes in teams, you can always tune in on Thursday to see if you missed anything.

Blizzard announces Overwatch World Cup for Blizzcon 2016

Blizzard finally announced their competitive plans for this year's BlizzCon. They have decided to take a slightly less serious approach, having the process of drafting players into country-based teams, but we are still excited to see Overwatch among the other eSports titles during this yearly highlight.

Season 1 is coming to an end!

Six days from today, Season 1 of competitive play will end. If you enjoy the gamemode then make sure you get some more hours in before the mode goes away for a few weeks. If you haven't really played yet, then maybe reconsider at least playing the placement matches for a spray and player icon reward.

The top eight overwatch teams are set for a showdown at Gamescom

ESL released the groups for the first phase of gamescom's matches this week. Two NA & two EU teams per group will make for plenty of region clashes leading up til the Grand Finals of the ESL Atlantic Showdown.

ESL Atlantic Showdown - VODs - Recap:

On August 5th, the final NA Qualifier for gamescom took place. After this qualifier, we could finally list all 8 teams playing in the offline finals in Germany.

Overwatch Open - VODs - Recap:

The third round of qualifiers for the Overwatch Open provided us yet again with some amazing matches. In the end though, only one team could win each qualifier, and in the absence of previous qualified teams, the competition was sharp.

Beyond The Summit - Recap:

Beyond The Summit's first go at a complete Overwatch event ended this week when they got some of the best NA teams in a bracket together. The winner was not a surprise in the end, but thats just the state of the North American scene right now.

TSM roster moves to compLexity Gaming

After picking up the Code7 roster as early as last week, TSM has decided to discontinue the partnership already. Luckily for the players, they did provide them with a new home in the form of respected organization compLexity Gaming.
