BlizzCon reveals new Hero reworks on the horizon

The reworks that were announced were called Dual Class Kharazim, Solo Warrior Dehaka, and Artanis (unfortunately, he didn't get a cool name for his).

Dual Class Kharazim

The first of these reworks was Kharazim. The goals for the rework included:

  • Fully embracing his identity as a dual class hero
  • Enhancing his core mechanic of mobility
  • Embracing bruiser Kharazim

Let's take a look at each of these aspects individually and see what the developers had to say about them.

Dual Class Hero

First of all they gave Kharazim a new level 4 talent choice, Mystic Allies. This talent tier is a choice among different effects for a healing/scouting drone type of ability. The three choices are:

  • Spirit Ally - The Spirit Ally talent places an ally at a location that heals nearby allies just like a healing ward.
  • Earth Ally - The Earthy Ally talent does the same thing as the above except it blocks basic attacks instead of healing.
  • Air Ally - The Air Ally provides vision of enemy heroes instead of the other two effects.

The developers said, "You will be able to place lots of them." It is important to note that Kharazim can jump to these allies with Radiant Dash, thus increasing his mobility and giving him more options.

Mobility

The developers are going to allow Kharazim to dash more often and dash to allies. Hopefully, there will be more news on this increase in mobility soon, but for now this is all we have.

Embracing Bruiser Kharazim

The final goal the developers hoped to accomplish was to embrace bruiser Kharazim. The ways they hope to accomplish this are:

  • Changing the Iron Fists talent to also give a movement speed boost on every third attack, not just a damage bonus.
  • Making Way of One Hundred Fists a better option and making it spammable because of lowered Radiant Dash cooldowns.

Solo Warrior Dehaka

The goal of the balancing team is to make Dehaka a more viable solo warrior. The announcements they made for achieving this goal are:

  • Basic talent buffs and talent rearranging. They are hoping to open up better defensive builds by changing up his talents.
  • Allowing players to cancel his burrow early. This will allow him to use this ability to dodge damage and get right back in the fight instead of sitting still when he needs to be front lining.
  • Adaptation will be buffed to heal him for 100% of the damage instead of the previous 60%.

Artanis

Artanis is receiving a change to his Blade Dash ability, allowing him to cast Phase Prism while dashing. There will also be talent changes to go along with this change in order to fix any potential problems with the combo.
