Capcom wants to give Mega Man and Devil May Cry "new releases, remakes, and ports"

Capcom seems keen on keeping its iconic franchises from dying.

Devil May Cry fans, it’s not over just yet. This week, Capcom released its 2025 Integrated Report, offering updates on its business dealings for investors. A statement from COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto was included in the document, offering updates on the company’s goals for fan-favourite game franchises like Ace Attorney, Devil May Cry, and Mega Man, all three of which were named directly.

In the statement, he confirmed that Capcom intends to expand its user base and improve its performance by creating “new releases, remakes, and ports” of these titles for new platforms, and thus “grow these into core IPs.”

That means more ports like Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection are likely in the works, and sequels are back on the table.

Capcom wants more Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney

Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto offered a statement to investors in the company’s 2025 Integrated Report, going over its business plans for the next 10 years. During this statement, Tsujimoto spoke briefly about maintaining its core IPs like Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter while “mapping out mainline series entries and sequels, remakes, new IP, and ports of content to the latest hardware.”

However, that doesn’t mean its other fan-favourite game franchises are being left to the wayside. Series like Devil May Cry and Mega Man also boast loyal fanbases, but have not received new installments in many years. That might change moving forward, starting with more ports and remakes. Tsujimoto said:

“We consistently release two to three major new titles each year, but recognize the need to grow our pipeline going forward. Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. We aim to expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware. By enhancing brand power and cultivating loyal fan bases, we will grow these into core IPs.”

Franchises like Mega Man and Ace Attorney are no strangers to ports and remakes, as Capcom has launched multiple remastered collections for both franchises in recent years. Still the concept of either series getting “new releases” or more ambitious “remakes” will be tantalising for fans to hear, especially since the company intends to make them “core IPs” in the vein of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.

Tsujimoto also noted that Capcom is making further investments in its workforce to expand “its development structure” for “this content.” This involves the creation of a new game studio next to its head office, with construction set to end in 2027. He said:

“The people developing this content are our world-class in-house creators. For the past three years, we have made strengthening our human capital a management priority, and to this end, have been training and recruiting personnel to expand our development structure. Previously, we consolidated our game development in Osaka to promote efficiency, however, to further strengthen its structure, we are currently constructing a new development facility next to our head office, slated for completion in 2027.”

Fingers crossed for more games in the vein of Mega Man: Battle Network or Star Force. This fan can dream.
