Percy Jackson & the Olympians crossover confirmed
Fortnite is adding an all-new Island this week, themed after the Disney+ TV adaptation of the widely-beloved book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The series will debut its second season on 10 December, and is roping Fortnite into its marketing cycle with a crossover island map.
The crossover was originally unveiled at the CCXP25 event in Brazil, and promises to be a fun playable adventure for Percy Jackson fans. An official description reads:
“Launching on December 9, the Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters Fortnite island will invite players and fans to embark on an authentic Percy Jackson adventure across an island map inspired by Camp Half-Blood – the earthly sanctuary and training facility for the children of mortals and Greek gods. As newly arrived demigods, players must discover the identity of their godly parent, gain new divine powers, and ally with their fellow demigods for a climactic battle against Scylla and Charybdis on the Sea of Monsters.“
While this crossover is limited to an in-game island, with seemingly no cosmetic or gameplay additions in Battle Royale, it does appear to be quite involved. Players will visit iconic locations from the first two seasons of the series, including Camp Half-Blood, the main hub of demigods like Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase. Speaking of the two heroes, players will also get to meet them in (virtual) person, in addition to the satyr Grover Underwood, on the map.
Players will be able to complete sidequests related to the series, and upcoming events in Season 2 fans have yet to see. On Instagram, series author Rick Riordan commented on the announcement:
“For YEARS, fans have been asking when they can play a video game set in Percy's world. Now, at last, you can visit a dedicated Camp Half-Blood island in Fortnite, and the artwork looks incredible! I particularly love the lava climbing wall. Drops Dec. 9, just in time for season two.”
Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters launches in Fortnite on 10 December.
