8 teams have made it to the quarter finals of the NA July open

The next leg of the competition will bring the teams competing in the Round of 8 at Burbank California, July 18th - 19th.

Another weekend filled with qualifiers is over and 8 teams have survived.  We see a host of familiar names, Cloud 9 Maelstrom, Cloud 9 Vortex, compLexity, 2ARC Gaming and of course Tempo Storm (who already won the June open) have all made it to the round of 8, and joining them are a slew of teams fans may not be as familiar with.

Pool Plato some Tangoes, Goon Squad, and COGnitive Gaming are the lowest ranked teams that will be competing next weekend and few would argue with labeling them as the underdogs. Their performance so far, however, has earned them the opportunity to make waves in the upper echelons of the NA heroes scene.

The bracket looks familiar, and the safe bet is that Tempo Storm will either meet Cloud 9 Maelstrom, or any one of the other established teams in the grand finals. If it gets to that point, nothing hints at a Tempo Storm defeat- their winning streak is still going strong with 26 match victories.

The Hero Picks

We saw a surprising amount of Tyrande, The Butcher and Arthas during the weekend, and even a few Murky picks (that felt more like flexing and less like a serious strategy).  The dominant heroes were the usual however, Jaina, Kael'thas, Malfurion, Johanna and Zeratul were almost always either banned or picked by teams that weren't looking to gain early momentum with a pick off strategy.
