Dota 2 news week in review: February 15th - 21st

For those who might have missed the most important news from the past week in competitive Dota 2 scene, here is a short review to catch up.

Team Empire wins BTS Series Europe #2

It was a great week for Team Empire who won the second season of BTS Series Europe and qualified for DotaPit #4 LAN finals and ESL One Manila.

At BTS Series Europe # 2 Team Empire had a perfect run, without dropping a single game from the first series played in the single elimination bracket to the grand finals were they swept through London conspiracy with a 3-0 victory.

However, in less than a month they will face much stronger teams at DotaPit Season 4 LAN finals where Evil Geniuses, OG, Team Secret and Virtus.Pro are the strong contenders. Here you can find the latest news from DotaPit #4, including the team cast for the LAN event that will be held in Split, Croatia between March 19-20.

Right after that Team Empire will head to Manila to compete for a share at the $250,000 prize pool money of ESL One Manila, along with EHOME, Team Liquid. Team Secret and three more SEA representative squads.

CompLexity Gaming qualify for ESL One Manila

Just a few days before traveling to Shanghai for the Winter Major, CompLexity Gaming have booked themselves a flight to Manila, Philippines after they 3-0'ed Elite Wolves in the finals of the American qualifiers, achieving the feat in under 90 minutes.

PowerRangers announce new roster

After a long period in which PowerRangers struggled to secure a stable five man roster, the announcement of a new line-up for the Belarusian organization came last week. Two Romanian players were added to the team, Turtoi 'Ar1sE^' Ionut taking also the leadership.

With the special Filipino qualifiers for ESL One Manila kicking off, Rave has announced a new roster change that includes their former players Ryo 'ryOyr' Hasegawa and Michael 'ninjaboogie' Ross.

Captains Draft 3.0: Unconventional heroes? EG still takes first place

Evil Geniuses have continued their dominant 12 months with a victory in the Captains Draft 3.0. With their victory, EG takes the first place and $35,000 of the base prize pool whilst Vega Squadron will have to settle for the second place prize of $23,000.

Sudamerican Master 4 to commence

The prestigious South-American tournament returns its fourth season where 16 teams will battle for a share at the $4,000 prize pool. 10 teams were directly invited to the tournament and will be joined by six more squads coming from the open qualifiers.

MVP Phoenix falls to TNC in BTS Southeast Asia #3 finals

Less than a week out from the beginning of the Shanghai Majors group stages, MVP Phoenix has fallen to TNC in the finals for BTS Southeast Asia #3 in a nail-biting 3-2 finale.

MVP Phoenix and TNC have faced off in the finals of BTS Southeast Asia in a tense 5 match set. Both teams traded wins all the way through the finals until the victor was decided in a hair-raising final match that could have gone either way up until the last minute.

The penultimate update to Dota brings excitement for players across the entire Dota scene. The fourth Winter Treasure has been released and there have been significant updates to the Winter Compendium, including the announcement of the Shanghai Major group stage brackets.

Evil Geniuses confirmed for the WePlay League Season 3 LAN playoffs

The first team to receive and accept the direct invite for the LAN finals of WePlay Season 3 is Evil Geniuses. At the same time the organizers announced a slight change for initial dates of the event.

To avoid schedule conflicts with other big tournaments, WePlay League Season 3 LAN finals were moved one week ahead and will now take place between April 28th and 1st of May at the International Exhibition Center in Kiev, Ukraine.
