A Penacony songstress and a notorious Stellaron Hunter are heading to New Eridu.
HoYoverse, the developer behind popular gacha game Zenless Zone Zero, has finally revealed the two Honkai: Star Rail characters coming to the game as part of its upcoming crossover.
Robin and Kafka were both teased during the Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 Special Program, "Journey to the Sky", on Friday (9 October). The short teaser featured Robin humming a song before Kafka interrupted the livestream with her signature command, "Listen." A static image featuring both characters was then shown before the stream ended.
Both characters play prominent roles in Honkai: Star Rail's story, although their appearances in Zenless Zone Zero could see them take on very different roles.
Who is Robin from Honkai: Star Rail?
Robin is a famous singer from Penacony, also known as the Planet of Festivities, and one of the major characters introduced during Honkai: Star Rail's Penacony storyline. She is a Halovian, a race distinguished by their angel-like halos and wings, and the younger twin sister of Sunday, another important character in the story.
As a singer whose fame extends across the galaxy, Robin uses the power of Harmony to connect with others through her music. She returned to Penacony to perform at the Charmony Festival, where she became involved in the conflict surrounding Sunday, the Family, and the true nature of Penacony's Dreamscape.
In Honkai: Star Rail, Robin is a five-star Physical character following the Path of Harmony. She specialises in supporting her teammates, increasing their damage output, and allowing them to act more frequently through her Ultimate ability. She is also known for singing during combat, with her Ultimate replacing the battle music with one of her songs.
Who is Kafka from Honkai: Star Rail?
Kafka is one of Honkai: Star Rail's most recognisable characters and a member of the Stellaron Hunters, a mysterious group operating under the guidance of Elio, also known as Destiny's Slave. The group follows Elio's predictions of the future, carrying out missions that often put them at odds with other factions across the galaxy.
She also plays an important role in the game's main story from the very beginning. Kafka is the first playable character players control during Honkai: Star Rail's opening sequence, where she and fellow Stellaron Hunter Silver Wolf infiltrate Herta Space Station and implant a Stellaron into the Trailblazer. She later becomes involved in the Xianzhou Luofu storyline, manipulating events to bring the Astral Express crew to the ship.
Kafka is a five-star Lightning character following the Path of Nihility, specialising in damage-over-time effects. She is also known for her ability called Spirit Whisper, which allows her to influence and control other people's actions through her voice. Her signature command, "Listen to me," makes her brief interruption during the Zenless Zone Zero livestream particularly fitting.
What abilities could Robin and Kafka have in Zenless Zone Zero?
While their Zenless Zone Zero abilities have yet to be revealed, their existing Honkai: Star Rail kits could offer some clues. Kafka, who specialises in Lightning damage and damage-over-time effects, could become an Electric Anomaly Agent in ZZZ.
Meanwhile, Robin's Physical damage type and Harmony abilities could translate into a Physical Support Agent, especially given her focus on buffing teammates. These are only possibilities based on their existing kits, as HoYoverse has not confirmed their attributes or combat specialities in Zenless Zone Zero.
When will Robin and Kafka be released in Zenless Zone Zero?
HoYoverse has not announced an exact release date for Robin and Kafka in Zenless Zone Zero, except that it would be released in Version 3.4.
The announcement comes after Honkai: Star Rail teased the arrival of Zenless Zone Zero characters Astra Yao and Ellen Joe during its September preview livestream. Both characters are set to appear in Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.8, although their exact release dates have yet to be confirmed.
It is also unclear how Robin and Kafka will fit into Zenless Zone Zero's story, given that Honkai: Star Rail takes place in a different universe. HoYoverse has yet to explain whether the crossover will feature a dedicated storyline involving the two characters or how their arrival in New Eridu will be handled.
