Fnatic defeats C9 in ESL ESEA Pro League grandfinals

Cloud9 took Fnatic all the way this weekend at the ESL ESEA Pro League finals, forcing the match to four closely contested maps with the Swedish side eventually coming out on top 3:1. North America had an incredible run at the event, with CLG defeating Fnatic in the group stage, Keyd Stars taking down TSM, and Cloud9 defeating EnVyUs in the groups and in the semifinals 2-0. Fnatic took home the title and the $100,000 first place prize. Check out the match recap, as well as the event hub for more details.

 

Nihlium add desi

 

The North American team recruited Derek "desi" Branchen this week after he was released from his former team, eLevate. Nihlium had been missing a fifth player in their lineup after cutting Timothy "autimatic" Ta, and with desis extensive LAN experience with top NA teams such as iBuypower, he was a perfect fit for the spot.

 

x6tence disbands

One of the oldest Spanish esports organizations in CS, x6tence, announced their disbandment this week after monthes of lackluster results from the team. x6tence was initially created during 1.6 in 2005, and still retained two core players, Antonio "Flipin" Rivas and Jonathan"MusambaN1" Torrent, even through 2015. It is yet unknown whether the current lineup will stay together and move to another organization.

FACEIT Stage 2 finals details live

More details about FACEIT league's Stage 2 LAN finals at Dreamhack Valencia have been revealed today as a full talent lineup as well as more format information. Notably, FACEIT and DH will be bringing in popular Starcraft II host Sue "Smix" Lee to providing stage hosting for the event; check out the full lineup here.

 

Team Kinguin signs Dennis

Dennis "dennis" Edman, who previously played for prominent teams such as Orbit and LGB eSports, signed with the multinational team this week to fill the spot left by the loss of ALexander "SKYTTEN" Carlsson. The organization had the following to say about the changes:

Team Kinguin CS:GO continues its journey. After the seperation with Alexander "SKYTTEN" Carlsson we had dennis as our stand in for ESL Cologne Online Qualifier. Everything went smooth and we are now qualified for the offline qualifier that will take place in the end of this month. We are happy to have such a player as dennis as our last player, a hybrid player that handles all weapons and situations in his own way. Our next missions will be to have a bootcamp this month, to prepare optimally before the offline qualifier. Keep supporting us, we love you for the motivation you give us. See you on the field!”
