New Avalon is a campaign, or maybe more of a set of RPG maps created by Daedalus Infinity, AKA DI. The maps are unique and has a lot of different mission objectives and lots of deep story. I decided to play through the last part of New Avalon earlier today, and I was astonished and amazed, and was hit by a big blast of nostalgia.
I played the old Use Map Settings Map New Avalon II this afternoon, when coming home and taken care of the chores and postings on various site. I did not feel like playing in the 12th WGTour season because I suck, simply because I am not as passionate in competitive gaming anymore – it is no longer my top priority to be be in the top, to play the most games and have an astonishing high APM count. Ever since I started working at sites like these my own gaming experiences have decreased to around one game a week, and simply watching a few replays with my closest friends. And I can honestly tell you that this is my place in the community – one that does not walk the path, but help others on their way morally and friendly. One that chips in with administrational tasks to keep the community still going high and competitive by hosting leagues and reporting on what is happening in the scene today.
Simplicity and Nostalgia when playing New Avalon
When I started to play New Avalon Arena, which is the last part of the campaign created by Daedalus Infinity, a thrill of nostalgia hit me. Last time I played the New Avalon campaign was years ago, where I had no idea the community was this big, this competitive and this serious. Another thing also hit me – simplicity. The New Avalon Arena is as I said the last part, and is the fight between the evil Seraph and the small group consisting of the wellknown Terran hero Jim Raynor, along with his allies Sara and Turan Reown, Xan and Aeron. It can be played both multiplayer and single player, the only difference is that the more players you are, the more heroes you get, making it easier to eliminate Seraph. In a regular game, a player must think of hundreds of small things, knowing exactly when to expand, tech to that specific unit and such. In the New Avalon Arena, your mission is simply to eliminate Seraph with the small group of units you have. Your mission is clear, and nothing is going to stand in your way. The Zergling swarms coming at you, or the crazy Ultralisks sent at you to give Seraph a chance to breathe are just obstacles in the way for your task. It is very simple, so easy to know what you are going to do.

Felt no pressure, a relaxing half hour
Playing New Avalon Arena once again was relaxing, thrilling and exciting at the same time. I remembered that when playing it last time I thought it was really really hard and could barely win against Seraph with help from a friend. Although now, I felt no pressure at all, since I was playing alone and could feel the diversity between playing ingame everything went astonishing well. It took me about 25 minutes to complete the quest, and I did only lose 1 Zealot. My micromanagement was much more relaxed than playing ingame, meaning I could think it over much more, something that you always do not have the time for playing regular competitive 1on1 games.
Daedalus Infinity, one of the best
So if you are up for a change other than playing regular 1on1 matches, and you like a good story, visual effects and a nice challenge, take some time and download and play New Avalon, Created by DI, Daedalus Infinity. one of the best StarCraft campaign makers in my own opinion.
