WGTour back!

[s]wgt[/s]The famous site is back again. Although I do not play WGTour myself, and they compete with us at times a little unfairly when it comes to news posting, I really did not want to see this great site go down.

I do not mind the competition, in fact it makes the Broodwar community healthier but the copy/pasting with not credit that occurs sometimes is at times a little annoying. Nevertheless there is a saying that says, "the most sincere form of flattery is imitation" so I guess there is some comfort in this.

WGTour is otherwise a great community of friends and a good place to find competition that you can interact with, other than 1v1 melee. It has the problems of any ladder with a high % of map hackers and abusers, albeit less than battle.net ladders. Its ranking system is not perfect but it appeals to most of its members, otherwise they would not have 3000 plus active members.

There is always room for improvement. BWscanner is available in every server so if you are a WGTour fanatic and still want honest games just insist on using it in your matches. Mandatory use of this program would solve their abuse problems.

If you're confused about how this is going to impact you and WGTour, read the following:

1) Our new partnership with mondespersistants will involve the addition of Advertisements to WGTour. The existence of these ads will be minimal but will help us greatly in providing the best possible future for WGTour and its users.

How will WGTour benefit?
2) The income our association receives from these advertisements will help us to finally update and improve our server to bring the fastest, best quality website/bot to our users.

3) A new team of webmasters will allow for WGTour to have more frequent and significant updates. Although they are obviously currently overloaded with the work of changing servers (NOT A PRIVATE SERVER), you can expect for more tools to come out on WGTour which will help improve the site as a whole.

4) The increased activity of these webmasters will also help WGTour continue to host such events as WSL and other pay-to-play ladders with more organization, participation, and success then ever.

We hope you are looking forward to WGTour's improvements as much as we are, and we will release more information in the near future about these changes.Anyway, they site is back and running! I wish them the best of luck and their continued survival. Here at SG.com we will continue to support them in whatever way we can. We are looking forward to the improvements.
