A new challenger approaches: Mozzarella wins final ETS qualifier

Mozzarella has made their presence known winning the final qualifier 2-1 against Meet Your Maker.

In their debut qualifier, Mozzarella needed to win all the way through to make it to the main event. Their opponents? None other than the highest seeded team themselves, Meet Your Maker. MYM has more than proved their skill, winning the past three qualifiers and beating Bob?, the former highest seeded team. Mozzarella might be a new team, but they are no newbies. The team is made up of former members of Fnatic, Nihilum, and Pirates and they are a very intimidating foe to face.

Meet Your Maker already had more than enough points to qualify, so the pressure was on Mozzarella. This was Mozza's first ever qualifier entry in ETS so the only way they would've been able to make it to the main event, would be with a first place victory in this final qualifier. Determined to knock out a fierce opponent before the main event began, MYM gave no slack. The series looked dead even until it was over, with MYM and Mozzarella both winning a game and being tied in game three. With a desperate push onto MYM's core, Mozzarella was just barely able to take it down and secure their place at the group event.

Now that the qualifiers are over, let's look at the final standings. The top 9 teams will advance to the main event group stage.

1. Europe MYM - 128 points
2. Europe Bob? - 100 points
3. Europe Kappa123 - 76 points
4. Poland Puszek - 56 points
5. Europe ROCCAT - 52 points
6. Sweden Pirates in Pyjamas - 40 points
7. Spain Huron - 38 points
8. Europe Mozza - 32 points
9. Germany Kinguin - 32 points

The big surprise, obviously, is Mozzarella's unexpected kick-in-the-door. The European squad came in full force to shuffle the standings at the bottom of the table, pushing out Team Kinguin to the last ninth spot. Mozza's success also meant the elimination of Dun Goofed. Although all of the bottom three teams are tied at 32 points, DG's record in previous qualifiers came out lacking in comparison to Kinguin's and Mozza's which have higher peak finishes and ultimately grabbed the seeds.

With all of the qualifying out of the way, the main event can begin. Mark your calendars, because all of the best EU action starts on the 24th. One group a day will play then, on the 26th, on September 1st, and on the 4th. The nine qualified teams will join the seven seeded ones from the previous season of Enter the Storm and form four double elimination groups before moving on to the main event playoffs. As usual, you'll be able to catch all the action at twitch.tv/Khaldor.

The group seeding will also be announced later today so stay tuned to heroes.gosucup.com and GosuGamers.net.
