Gen.G, Dplus KIA, LYON, and MKOI improve to 2-0 records in Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage Day 2

Day 2 of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship Swiss Stage saw the powerhouse teams start to separate themselves from the rest of the competition in the final round of best-of-one matches for the tournament.

LCK juggernauts Gen.G and Dplus KIA (DK), as well as the LEC's Movistar KOI (MKOI) and the LCS' LYON, improved to 2-0 records after emerging victorious against Hanwha Life Esports (HLE), T1, CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO), and Karmine Corp (KC), respectively, in the Round 2 High Matches.

With their victories, Gen.G, DK, MKOI, and LYON will be entering Day 3 of the Swiss Stage with the chance to become the first two teams to advance to the Knockout Stage.

After the four Chinese teams went winless in the opening day of the Swiss Stage, Top Esports, Shanghai Invictus Gaming, and Bilibili Gaming bounced back in the Round 2 Low Matches to give the LPL their first wins of the tournament. LEC top seed G2 Esports also scored a much-needed win in this round to improve to a 1-1 standing.

That then left Anyone's Legend, LOS, Team Secret Whales, and Team Liquid Alienware with abysmal 0-2 records, putting them just one loss away from an early elimination from Worlds 2026.

What's next in the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage?

Round 3 of the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage will see the first two teams advance to the Knockout Stage as well as the first two teams to be eliminated. The Round 3 Advancement Matches will feature the four teams with 2-0 records, with the winners advancing to the Knockout Stage as the top seeds. Meanwhile, the Round 3 Elimination Matches will feature the four teams with 0-2 records, with the losers exiting Worlds 2026 in 15th-16th place. Finally, the Round 3 Mid Matches will feature the eight teams with 1-1 records vying for a better position for the succeeding rounds.

The Round 3 Advancement Matches and the first two Round 3 Mid Matches will be played in Day 3 of the Swiss Stage, while the remaining two Mid Matches and the Round 3 Elimination Matches will be taking place in Day 4.

Once Round 3 has concluded, there will be a one-day break before competition resumes with Round 4 of the Swiss Stage. In addition, all matches from Round 3 onward will be a best-of-three and with Fearless Draft active.
