Bandai Namco's latest look at Rogue Orbit puts more focus on how Gundam Helix actually handles in combat.
Bandai Namco revealed more gameplay for its upcoming action game Gundam Rogue Orbit during the PlayStation State of Play on Thursday (3 September), while also confirming when players can jump into the cockpit.
The new trailer gives a longer look at Gundam Helix in action, with fast movement, close-range combat, ranged attacks, and battles against several larger enemies. Other mobile suits also make appearances, while Bandai Namco followed up with a more detailed gameplay breakdown during State of Play Japan later the same day.
Gundam Rogue Orbit was first announced at Summer Game Fest 2026 as a high-mobility action game starring ace pilot RE-X and the Gundam Helix.
The game is also part of the wider RG Project alongside the upcoming 2027 anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO. Both take place in the same After Apocalypse universe, although Rogue Orbit is set roughly 100 years after the events of the anime.

When is Gundam Rogue Orbit releasing?
Gundam Rogue Orbit will release on 5 March 2027 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The State of Play announcement gives the game a firm launch date after Bandai Namco previously confirmed only a 2027 release window when Rogue Orbit was revealed earlier this summer.
What new features were shown in Gundam Rogue Orbit?
After Gundam Rogue Orbit's release date was confirmed during the main State of Play, Bandai Namco followed up with a more detailed look at the game during State of Play Japan later the same day.
Producer Yuta Tomiyama used the segment to show how players can build Gundam Helix around different combat styles, with weapons, skills, frame parts, and thrusters all affecting how the mobile suit performs.
Three weapon types were highlighted during the presentation. The Assault Sword is built around heavy charged hits and can quickly pull Helix towards distant targets, while the Sword Lance combines thrusting attacks with a mid-range option. The Whip Sword can also change form during combat, letting players switch between a tighter close-range setup and attacks with a much wider reach.
Weapons can be paired with different Tactical Skills, giving players further options for shaping their loadout rather than being locked into one set of abilities.
Customisation also extends beyond weapons. Gundam Helix's Mobile Suit Frame is divided into five components, including its thrusters, with each part carrying its own durability and effects. Different thrusters change how boosting feels on the ground and in the air, with some geared towards horizontal movement and others offering greater freedom when moving vertically.
Players will also be able to change Helix's colour scheme, inner frame, and illuminated parts. Bandai Namco even showed a mod skin that gives the mobile suit an appearance inspired by the RX-78-2 Gundam.
The State of Play Japan segment only covered a selection of the available weapons and customisation options, so more of Rogue Orbit's systems are still to be detailed ahead of launch.
