Hideo Kojima is officially appearing in Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2.
Hideo Kojima, the legendary game director behind the Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding franchises, is reprising one of his unlikeliest roles: Hideyoshi Oshima, a character he played in Cyberpunk 2077. According to the official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners social media account, Kojima will once again play Oshima in the animated series’ second season.
Who is Hideo Kojima playing in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2?
Hideo Kojima is officially returning to Night City, reprising the role of Hideyoshi Oshima, a character he played briefly in CD Projekt Red’s open world game Cyberpunk 2077. The character originally appeared in Konpeki Plaza as a missable NPC, who players would have encountered if they did a little light exploring in the game’s “The Heist” quest.
Oshima will once again appear in Night City as a “Japanese Braindance director” in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2. The upcoming season debuts on Netflix on Thursday, 20 October, 2026. Kojima will once again reprise his role as the character, though the extent of his involvement in this season’s storyline remains unknown.
Aside from a new instalment of the Netflix anime, a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action movie is also now in the works.
