Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new update themed after Edgerunners Season 2 with new items and features

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a crossover with Edgerunners Season 2.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 has officially made its debut on Netflix, with all 10 episodes now available for streaming. That’s not all, however–CD Projekt RED’s open world game Cyberpunk 2077 is also getting a brand-new update entitled “the Edgerunners 2 Update (Update 2.5).”

The upcoming update will add items and features inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2.

When is Cyberpunk 2077’s Edgerunners 2 update coming out?

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 isn’t just coming to Netflix–it's coming to Cyberpunk 2077 too, marking the game's first major update since June 2025’s Update 2.3. Now, the game is getting a hefty new version 2.5 update entitled the Edgerunners 2 update, which does exactly what it says on the tin: add a variety of new items and features inspired by the new anime season.

While the finer details of this update haven’t been made public just yet, CD Projekt RED plans to host a REDstream on 21 October, 2026 to dive into its contents. The update’s official patch notes will also be published on the same day, which means that players will only need to wait a day or two to learn about Cyberpunk 2077’s new content.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 consists of 10 episodes, and tells a new story set in Night City, separate from the anime’s first season. Animation studio Trigger has once again teamed up with CD Projekt RED to produce the series. Kai Ikarashi directs this season, with Kanno Ichigo serving as Lead Character Designer.

Masahiko Otsuka and Bartosz Sztybor also return from the series’ first season, with the latter serving as showrunner, story writer, and producer.
