Cyberpunk 2077 x Edgerunners 2 update adds dual-wielding, cross-platform mods, and new quests

Cyberpunk 2077's latest update goes beyond its Edgerunners 2 crossover, with substantial additions to the game itself.

There's been a lot happening in Night City lately, and Cyberpunk 2077 isn't slowing down. CD Projekt Red has rolled out another major free update for Cyberpunk 2077, bringing new quests inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, dual-wielding combat, cross-platform mod support, and more ways to customise V.

Previously announced alongside the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix, the Edgerunners 2 Update (Patch 2.5) arrives on Thursday (22 October). Beyond the anime crossover, players will find new combat perks, cyberware customisation, and a few more mysteries scattered across Night City.

The official patch notes, published on Wednesday (21 October), also detail graphical improvements and quality-of-life changes, including further PlayStation 5 Pro optimisations and a field-of-view (FOV) slider for consoles. A video preview of the new features was also uploaded to the game's official YouTube channel:

What are the new quests in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5?

With Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 now streaming on Netflix, players can get a little more of the anime's story through a new side quest called Clampdown, which takes place before the events of the second season.

Players have new quests to delve into in the new Cyberpunk 2077 update.

To unlock it, V must complete The Heist and two gigs for Wakako Okada before waiting for a message from the fixer. The quest also features characters from the anime, voiced by the same actors who portray them in the series. Players can obtain a five-piece gear set inspired by King during the quest, giving them something to take away from the crossover.

A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, also joins Night City's airwaves, featuring music from both seasons of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Outside the anime crossover, there's another side quest called Welcome to Paradise, which takes V on a guided tour of Night City narrated by its founder, Richard Night. A mystery awaits along the way, with the quest unlocking after completing The Heist and reaching Street Cred level 15.

Meanwhile, 12 new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards have been scattered across the city. Scanning any of them activates a new quest extending Fool on the Hill, with a special reward for collecting all 12.

How to dual-wield pistols and revolvers in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5

Sometimes one gun just isn't enough, and Patch 2.5 finally lets V bring two into a fight. The new Double Trouble perk, found in the Cool attribute tree, allows players to dual-wield pistols and revolvers from the Power weapon category.

Four auxiliary perks accompany Double Trouble, building on the new mechanic with additional combat options. It's not quite open season on every weapon in V's arsenal, though. Dual-wielding is limited to Power pistols and revolvers, so don't expect to stroll into a firefight carrying two shotguns or smart weapons.

CD Projekt Red has also added new Photo Mode poses specifically for dual-wielding, letting V show off both guns when the shooting stops.

How to customise cyberware in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5

Night City's obsession with chrome is getting another upgrade, and V can finally give their arm cyberware a more personalised appearance. Five new Glamdocs have opened across Night City, allowing players to change the appearance and colours of their Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and Projectile Launch System. There will be 40 new cyberware looks to choose from, with different colour options and visual variations.

Each Glamdoc has its own shop, introductory scene, voiceovers, animations, and catalogue of cyberware skins.

Each Glamdoc has their own shop, introductory scene, voiceovers, animations, and catalogue of cyberware skins. Their locations are marked with spray paint icons on the map, although V will need to have the relevant cyberware equipped before getting a makeover.

The update also makes several previously NPC-exclusive hairstyles available to V, with some restricted to masculine or feminine body types. New clothing collections from Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch, and IconAmerica have reached vendors around the city, alongside the NUS Infiltrator set in Kabuki and Japantown. Another outfit collection is coming later, while four new TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech are available through Twitch Drops.

Does Cyberpunk 2077 support cross-platform mods?

Yes. With Update 2.5, Cyberpunk 2077 now supports cross-platform modding through mod.io, allowing players to browse and install selected community-created mods directly from the in-game menu. The feature is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing mod support to console players for the first time. However, Nintendo Switch 2 players will receive the update a little later than other platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077 already has an established PC modding community, but the new system doesn't mean every existing PC mod will automatically work on consoles. CD Projekt Red is starting with a selection of supported mods, with more to be added over time.

There are a few restrictions to keep in mind. During the REDstreams livestream, CD Projekt Red's Paweł Sasko warned players against installing too many mods at once, as doing so could affect game stability, as reported by PC Guide. Console players also cannot earn achievements or trophies when playing from a modded save file. The Load Game menu now marks these saves with a dedicated icon, making them easier to identify..

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 graphics and quality-of-life improvements

Away from the new quests and gameplay features, Patch 2.5 brings several technical improvements to Night City. On PC, the update adds support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and the second-generation Transformer Model. AMD users receive an FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle, while the available FSR options have also been updated.

Compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors now support glasses-free 3D effects, complete with a Motion Comfort setting to adjust depth and viewing comfort. Mac users also gain MetalFX Frame Interpolation support.

CD Projekt Red has made further ray tracing and PlayStation 5 Pro optimisations, building on the dedicated PS5 Pro update released in April 2026. HDR rendering has also been improved for more accurate colours, brightness, and contrast on compatible displays.

Console players can now adjust their field of view using a new FOV slider. Meanwhile, the Load Game menu groups saves by individual playthrough, and apartment and vehicle stashes have received item filters, making it easier to find particular gear without digging through everything V has collected.

Photo Mode has a few more toys to play with, too. New frames inspired by the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game let players turn their screenshots into custom card-style images, alongside the new dual-wielding poses. The patch also addresses several bugs, including a Nintendo Switch 2 saving error, HDR settings not applying correctly on PlayStation 5, and a progression-blocking issue involving the Delamain cab in Things Done Changed.

When is Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 available?

Cyberpunk 2077's free Edgerunners 2 Update launches on Thursday (22 October) for PC, Mac through Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac App Store players will receive the update in the following days, although CD Projekt Red has yet to confirm an exact release date for those versions.
