The description about the game on the Nintendo store was promptly removed and replaced.
Nintendo may have revealed more about its upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake than intended, after a now-removed website description appeared to offer fresh insight into the long-awaited Switch 2 project.
The remake was announced during last week's Nintendo Direct, though Nintendo stopped short of explaining exactly how the new version differs from the Nintendo 64 original. Beyond a brief teaser featuring a sleeping young Link and the appearance of the Triforce mark on his hand, the company has kept details firmly under wraps. That made a short description discovered within the game's official product page particularly noteworthy.

What did the deleted Ocarina of Time Nintendo Switch 2 description say?
Before it was removed, IGN reported that the text described the project as "The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay."
The wording characterised the game as a "full remake" while also referencing updated visuals and redesigned elements. At the same time, Nintendo's mention of "timeless gameplay" suggested the experience may retain key aspects of the original adventure, though the company has not elaborated on what that means in practice.
Shortly afterwards, the description was replaced with a far more general overview: “The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!” The updated version removes references to gameplay and design changes altogether.
How different will The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time be on Nintendo Switch 2?
For now, Nintendo has yet to clarify the scope of the remake. Nintendo has taken a relatively similar approach with its upcoming Star Fox remake, which retains much of the original game's gameplay while introducing expanded story sequences. Whether Ocarina of Time will receive comparable additions remains unclear.
More information on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is expected later this year. For now, the remake remains slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
