Overwatch has revealed all-new heroes coming to the game throughout 2026.
Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed a new hero coming to Overwatch: Doctrine. Doctrine is a playable Support hero who is joining Doomfist’s new faction, which spins out of Talon while bearing a vendetta against… well, Vendetta.
Additionally, major reworks for Sombra and Roadhog are also in the works. Sombra is surprisingly getting turned into a Support hero, marking the game’s second role change after Doomfist became a Tank.

Who is Doctrine in Overwatch?
Overwatch is getting a new Support hero named Doctrine, a vampiric hero who manipulates lifeforce using his scepter. His ability also includes infusions and bat-like drones, allowing him to become a powerful ally to Sombra, Doomfist, and Reaper, in the game’s Reign of Talon storyline moving forward.
Reign of Talon will close out Overwatch’s first year-long story arc in Season 5. Doctrine’s release will also be accompanied by a new Escort Map named Watchpoint: Grimsvotn, which is set in the remote Icelandic prison wherein Doomfist broke Doctrine free in order to set his plan in motion.
Doctrine is currently playable in Overwatch during a limited-time Hero Trial from now until 14 September, 2026. The hero will join Overwatch in Season 5. Hero 55, the game's next Omnic Support hero, has also been revealed in new art:
