Platforms: Playstation 5, PC
Developers: Arc System Works
Who are the Knights of Doom in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls?
The newly revealed team is led by Doctor Doom, with Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage joining the roster as playable fighters. According to the announcement, the reasons behind the villains joining forces and entering the tournament will be explored through Episode Mode. The story will reveal how the characters came together and what motivates them to compete.
Alongside the team reveal, a new variation of Marvel’s New York has also been introduced. The Night version of the stage serves as the Knights of Doom's home arena and presents a darker take on the city compared to the previously shown daytime version. The stage also contains hidden Easter eggs for players to discover.
What are Magneto's abilities in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls?
Magneto enters the roster with abilities centred around controlling the battlefield. He can throw environmental objects at opponents, with shattered debris remaining on the stage. These fragments can then be used to strengthen his abilities when combined with his skills. The announcement describes how debris can fill the screen during battle, reinforcing Magneto’s role as the "Master of Magnetism."
How does Green Goblin's combat work in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls?
Green Goblin joins the game using his bat-shaped glider to move quickly around the arena. His arsenal includes projectile attacks such as Razor Bats and Pumpkin Bombs, allowing him to pressure opponents before launching aerial attacks. His move set is designed around unpredictable and disruptive tactics.
Carnage brings symbiote-powered attacks to MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Carnage focuses on relentless offence, using bladed arm transformations and symbiote tendrils to overwhelm enemies. Successful tendril attacks inflict a temporary "symbiote-infested" state on opponents. While enemies are affected, Carnage's abilities become stronger, enabling him to break through defences and drain health even when opponents are guarding.
The Champion revealed as the Marvel TOKON: Fighting Souls’ main threat
The latest reveal also introduced The Champion of the Universe, who serves as the central threat facing both heroes and villains. Described as an Elder of the Universe who has lived for billions of years, The Champion travels with the Promoter in search of worthy opponents. The announcement says that he seeks the ultimate battle and that worlds whose fighters fail to satisfy him face destruction. Earth has now become his next target.
The Promoter has announced the beginning of "The Challenge of the Champion" tournament
In the Challenge of the Champion, “Teams of four will be formed to compete in preliminary rounds, and the team that emerges victorious will earn the right to challenge the Champion himself.” The Champion's design focuses on immense power, confidence, dignity, and elegance, combining a muscular build with a tailored suit. Additional details, including his sunglasses and belt buckle, are also intended to reflect his personality.
New key art for MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls revealed
Finally, a new piece of key art for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls has also been revealed in the PlayStation blog. The illustration was created by Yūki Katō, the game's main character artist, before being finalised by 2D artists at Arc System Works. The artwork highlights the game's 4v4 combat system and story elements, with each team's leader positioned prominently in the composition.
Will the MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls new content be available during Evo 2026?
Players attending Evo 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada from 26 June will be able to try the latest hands-on demo. The demo will include Magneto as a playable character and the Marvel’s New York (Night) stage.
There’s only one more team left to reveal according to the devs, which will be revealed later on before the release of the game in August. Until then, players would need to hang tight and perhaps get the chance to try out the new team if they're attending Evo 2026!
