What do Robbie Robertson and the Blackwood Sanitorium have in common?
Game developer Firesprite and PlayStation Studios popped up at this week’s State of Play to reveal a release date for Until Dawn 2: 28 January, 2027. A PlayStation Blog post has also confirmed that Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio is also involved in the game’s creation.

Are the Dispatch developers involved in Until Dawn 2?
Until Dawn 2, the sequel to the horror adventure game Until Dawn, is officially locked in for a PlayStation 5 launch on 28 January, 2027. The game follows a team of fake ghost hunters on YouTube called “Dead True”, who wind up on the danger-filled Akishima Island. One or all of the characters may perish during the player’s adventures, depending on their choices.
Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio has also been confirmed to be involved in crafting Until Dawn 2’s story campaign, which Firesprite says is “a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths. Every choice, every interaction can ripple with dramatic consequences.”
The trailer also has more interesting insights to glean: the Dead True team finds themselves in none other than Blackwood Sanitorium, a location from the original Until Dawn game. There, they uncover something they didn’t quite expect. The crew eventually heads off to a remote South Pacific island in a search for more content, only to find that content in a much more real way than intended. A wendigo is even spotted.
The trailer above hints at some of the game’s choices, such as helping friends or investigating clues. Pre-orders for the game will launch on 10 September, 2026. The game also has Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions, which be pre-ordered to unlock the following content:
- Until Dawn classic outfit
- Akishima Island holiday outfit
- Dr. Hill collector’s bobbleheads to discover in-game
The Digital Deluxe Edition will also include the following content:
