Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls adds Hulk and Black Panther to Fighting Avengers, teases new threat

The Fighting Avengers team is now complete.

Upcoming superhero fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has welcomed two more iconic heroes, Hulk and Shuri’s Black Panther, as new additions to its expanding roster of starting characters. Alongside them, studio Arc System Works also showcased a new stage and a mysterious cosmic threat.

Watch the trailer below:

Who are the new heroes joining Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls?

Hulk is exactly what you would expect. His destructive attacks build up a Gamma Gauge, which, when maxed out, triggers Gamma Rage, significantly boosting his strength and speed.

Meanwhile, Shuri’s Black Panther takes advantage of her athletic form, excelling in acrobatic movements and mid-range combat, utilising the Spear of Bashenga to outmanoeuvre opponents with speed.

These two join previously announced heroes Captain America and Iron Man, completing the four-member team known as the Fighting Avengers.

Other teams revealed so far include the Amazing Guardians, featuring characters like Ms. Marvel and Star-Lord, as well as the Unbreakable X-Men, with staples such as Wolverine and Storm.

Developer Arc System Works revealed the new characters during Evo Japan 2026, alongside a brand-new Wakanda stage–the iconic nation ruled by Black Panther, now under Shuri’s leadership.

Fans were also teased with a mysterious new threat known as The Champion. According to the PlayStation Blog, this entity has existed since the birth of the universe and travels the cosmos with a right-hand show-woman named Promoter. More details about this looming antagonist are expected soon.

What is Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls about?

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a 2.5D tag-team fighter that introduces a unique 4v4 battle system, where players gradually unlock additional team members mid-fight. This mechanic adds a deeper layer of strategy compared to traditional fighting games.

The game is developed by Arc System Works, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and created in collaboration with Marvel Games.

At launch, the game will feature a 20-character roster, with 14 revealed so far, meaning more announcements are expected in the lead-up to release. Sony has also planned four post-launch DLC characters.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on 6 August, 2026, with pre-orders already available. A playable demo is also scheduled for 22 May, giving fans an early taste of the game's superhero action.
