Classic Sim chaos with cosy gameplay is coming this month.
The Sims-like life simulator game Paralives was first announced all the way back in 2019, but it’s now finally on track for an early access release next week. The upcoming indie game, developed by Paralives Studio, is set to launch in early access on 25 May at 10 AM ET.
This week, the developer released a brand-new gameplay trailer diving into what players can expect to play in Paralives’ early access launch, accompanied by a chunkier 45 minutes of pure gameplay.
Here’s the trailer:

What is Paralives about?
Paralives is a life simulation game that aims to give players a similar balance of cosy gameplay and outright chaos as EA’s The Sims franchise. This game opts for a slightly different approach of The Sims’ life sim gameplay loop, however, with a cartoonish but aesthetically pleasing art style to boot.
The gameplay trailer above shows players what they can expect when Paralives launches in early access next week. First off, the game starts off with a train full of “Paras”, which is the game’s version of Sims characters. Here, players can create and customise their Paras, including managing different aspects of their personalities.
Paralives also features a Storyteller mechanic. In the introductory train sequence, players will be introduced to multiple Storytellers who ostensibly affect the game’s difficulty and tone in different ways. While the trailer opted to leave out any specifics, one Storyteller named Ricardo hints that he would “add some spice to your Para’s life” while another Storyteller named Maxence only wishes to “bring balance to your stories.”
Paralives is set in a town called Melino, where players can build lots for their Paras, and have them freely explore their environs. Housing customisation is a major feature here, with plenty of features available for players who want to tinker with the specifics of their Para’s homes. For example, you can build curved walls, add windows, reshape the land, and resize furniture or change their colour.
Paras can also take on new jobs, join activities, or visit the stores around Melino to gain new items. As they live out their daily lives, they’ll “level up” their personality and gain new bonuses.
The game also supports community mods via the Steam Workshop, meaning that players can go a step further than currently-available in-game content to customise their gameplay experience.
Paralives launches in early access on 25 May, 2026.
