Crimson Desert’s first DLC Charting the Unknown set for October 2026 release

Crimson Desert is getting its first DLC, “Charting the Unknown”, just seven months after the base game launch.

Pearl Abyss has announced its first downloadable content (DLC) for Crimson Desert, titled “Charting the Unknown”, with a reveal trailer showcased at the recent Sony State of Play. The DLC is set to arrive on 15 October for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, nearly seven months after the game first launched.

Release date: 19 March, 2026

Platforms: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Developer: Pearl Abyss

What is Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown DLC about?

The nearly two-minute reveal trailer showcased new threats and locations, including vast underwater areas for exploration. It also premiered an upgraded housing mode, with many fans noting its similarities to the house customisation mechanics found in The Sims.

The DLC will also introduce new stories, with the Steam description reading: “New stories unfold across Pywel–from an ominous presence in the desert and a dangerous political conflict to a journey beyond time and an ancient secret beneath the waves”. Players will follow Kliff, Oongka and Damiane as they forge their own paths, discover their purpose and shape their destinies.

This is the first DLC for Crimson Desert, an open-world action adventure that launched in March 2026. While the game faced some doubts ahead of its launch, Pearl Abyss has made strenuous efforts to continue updating and improving the game, helping it build a solid and growing player base.

Its latest milestone was revealed in June 2026, when Crimson Desert surpassed 6 million copies sold, just 83 days after its release. This helped establish Crimson Desert as one of the year's top-performing games, and made it the fastest-selling Korean console game in history.

Following the game's success, Pearl Abyss has continued its momentum with the arrival of its first-ever DLC. Charting the Unknown is set to launch later this year, arriving just under seven months after the base game–a particularly quick turnaround compared with many other recent AAA titles.

Crimson Desert ‘Charting the Unknown’ retails for US$25 with pre-orders now available on select platforms, set to launch globally on 15 October.
