Fans have spotted a mysterious StarCraft teaser on the game's official website just days before BlizzCon 2026 occurs from Saturday, 12 September, to Sunday, 13 September.
The timely teaser has further fuelled rumours of a new StarCraft entry in the works, following years of speculations alongside a recent report suggesting that Blizzard may be handing the next StarCraft game to Nexon (as per GamesRadar).

The official StarCraft website is currently displaying glitching and flashing effects on its homepage, and it did not take long for internet sleuths to uncover potential clues. Users reportedly discovered “hidden messages” in the site's console containing dates set between 60 and 70 years after the events of the current StarCraft storyline. The discovery is particularly intriguing, as it appeared just days before BlizzCon 2026.
It has been a barren decade for fans of the sci-fi strategy classic. The franchise last received a mainline entry in 2015 with StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, which concluded the trilogy, followed by additional campaign content and DLC.
More than a decade later, fans have yet to receive any official word on a new StarCraft project, with the franchise's most recent release being StarCraft: Remastered, which launched in 2017.
Speculation that Blizzard could finally be preparing something new for StarCraft has persisted for several years. One of the strongest indications came from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, who said in a podcast in 2024 (on the 44:23 minute-mark): “Yes, they are working on a StarCraft shooter. StarCraft is not dead at Blizzard.”
More recently, a report from GamesRadar, citing South Korean outlet dnews, suggested that Nexon is currently developing a new game based on the StarCraft IP and has begun recruiting key developers, including reported StarCraft modder Choi Jun-ho.
When the community began drawing connections between that report and the previously rumoured StarCraft shooter, Schreier responded: “No idea if this is true but if so it is unrelated to the StarCraft shooter that's in development at Blizzard by a Blizzard team.”
That response has sparked further speculation within the community that multiple StarCraft projects could currently be in development.
However, these reports and rumours should still be taken with a grain of salt, as none of the projects have been officially confirmed by Blizzard. Hopefully, the upcoming BlizzCon can give hopeful fans something to look forward to.
