Ubisoft delays several games from major IPs to 2026 And 2027

The decision comes after the company saw the positive impact of the delay of the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Ubisoft has announced that several of its biggest upcoming games are being delayed, following a reassessment of its development pipeline. The publisher hasn’t specified which titles are affected, but it has confirmed that they belong to its top five franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Rainbow Six, The Division, and Ghost Recon.

The decision comes after the company saw the positive impact of the delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows.

In a recent investor call first reported by Eurogamer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot described the delays as necessary to "create the best conditions for success", adding that the extra time would allow the studio to deliver higher quality experiences. The postponed games will now launch beyond the current financial year, which ends in March 2026, and are scheduled to arrive during FY 2026–2027 or FY 2027–2028.

Ubisoft's major release of the year, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, finally launched in March following a delay. The game hit 2 million players two days after release. While the company chose not to reveal updated sales numbers, they noted the game has reached 160 million gameplay hours. The title had the second-highest day one revenue in series history, trailing only Valhalla.

The game will receive its first major expansion later this year. Ubisoft reiterated that Shadows’ delay was worthwhile, calling it a “good decision” that resulted in stronger quality.

The delays come as Ubisoft reports a challenging fiscal year. For the year ending 31st March 2025, the company earned €1.85 billion, falling slightly below expectations. It attributed the shortfall to weaker-than-expected partnerships and the timing of certain deals.

What’s still coming in FY 2025-2026

While several titles have been pushed back, Ubisoft still has a number of releases planned for the current financial year (ending on March 2026) These include:

  • Anno 117: Pax Romana
  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
  • Rainbow Six Mobile
  • The Division: Resurgence
  • Additional unannounced titles

Rainbow Six Siege is also set to receive its major X update in June.

Tencent-backed subsidiary to house certain IPs

In the same investors call, Ubisoft also confirmed plans to establish a new subsidiary backed by Chinese publisher Tencent. This entity will oversee the Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry franchises. More details will be shared later this year.

The new group is expected to focus on enhancing narrative-driven solo experiences, growing live service offerings, and expanding into markets such as mobile and China.
