Coldplay’s latest music video for the song ‘Man in the Moon’ wowed Genshin Impact fans with snippets of Yae and Zhongli cosplayers.
Genshin Impact is a game that thrives on the existence of ships, where players put two characters together romantically for giggles and heart-thumping content. There are no canon ships in Genshin Impact, so every character is free to be paired with each other, a freedom that a lot of players particularly enjoy when it comes to content creation.
But who knew Coldplay would get in on the fun, too?
The British band recently released a music video for their latest song, ‘Man in The Moon’, in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board, featuring scenic locations within the country. However, Genshin Impact fans who listen to Coldplay got the shock of their lives upon witnessing the appearance of two iconic characters of the game: Yae and Zhongli.
Although the video description did not include the names for the cosplayers behind Yae and Zhongli, the duo was featured taking romantic walks together, and a kiss between the two was even hinted at.
The ship between Yae and Zhongli is definitely not unheard of, but it’s not popular within the community given that the two haven't really interacted in the game yet. The video description also did not mention HoYoverse or Genshin Impact, meaning that this wasn’t an official collaboration. It looks like this ship won’t be canon in-game, so sorry folks.
Another fun tidbit to notice is that Zhongli hails from the nation of Liyue, which in Mandarin translates to ‘Glazed Moon’, making him a literal ‘Man (from) The Moon’!
It’s still a pleasant surprise to be had for sure. Who knew we’d get a Yae x Zhongli appearance in a Coldplay video before GTA 6?
