Rockstar’s highly-anticipated GTA sequel is still planned to launch this year.
Rockstar Games’ open-world sequel Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track for a Fall 2025 launch window. Publisher Take-Two Interactive recently released a financial earnings report diving into its 2025 release slate. The report did not confirm a specific release date for the game, but did note that it was still expected to launch this fall.
Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick also told Variety that 2025 will be the company’s “most extraordinarily exciting release schedule I think we’ve ever had.”
GTA 6 still on track to meet Fall 2025 launch window
Take-Two Interactive’s release plans for GTA 6 seem to be going smoothly. This week, the company reported on its quarterly earnings from October 2024 to December 2024, but failed to provide an exact date for its most anticipated release of the year. However, the company assured Variety that Rockstar’s open-world crime game is still on track for its previously-announced Fall 2025 launch window.
CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety that “We’ve announced a pretty narrow window. So I think our view is that right now, that’s fine [...] And then when it’s appropriate, of course, Rockstar is going to have more to say.”
Take-Two’s 2025 release slate is shaping up to be a pretty impressive one too, providing that its titles do not get delayed. Besides GTA 6, Take-Two plans to launch Civilization 7 on 11 February, Mafia: The Old Country in Summer 2025, Grand Theft Auto 6 in Fall 2025, and Borderlands 4 at an unspecified 2025 date. Zelnick also stated that Civilization 7 is likely to hit the Nintendo Switch 2 once the console is out.
Rockstar Games unveiled its first trailer for GTA 6 back in 2023. The game features dual protagonists Jason and Lucia, who will likely get into all sorts of hijinks in modern-day Vice City.
