007 First Light is getting a small delay.
Hitman World of Assassination developer IO Interactive has opted to delay its upcoming James Bond video game, 007 First Light. The action-adventure game was originally set to launch on 27 March, 2026, but has now been delayed by two months to 27 May, 2026.
The developer stated that the delay would allow its team to “ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one.”
007 First Light officially delayed to May 2026
A statement penned by IO Interactive’s CEO Hakan Abrak confirmed the delay, which puts the game on shelves two months later than originally planned. Abrak wrote:
"007 First Light is our most ambitious project to date, and the team has been fully focused on delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience, bringing together breathtaking action, globe-trotting, spycraft, gadgets, car chases, and more. As an independent developer and publisher, this decision allows us to ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one.”
Abrak offered updates on how the game is currently shaping up, saying that it’s “progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch.”
Abrak assured players that the delay would only set “007 First Light up for long-term success” and that fans would learn more about the game in early 2026, when IO Interactive shares more updates on its development.
007 First Light was last seen at The Game Awards 2025, wherein a new trailer was showcased with musician Lenny Kravitz as the game’s villain. The game will launch on 27 May, 2026.
