Zibai is an Adpetus from Liyue who’s connected to Istaroth, the god of time.
Genshin Impact has revealed a brand new character in Zibai, who unlike Columbina, has yet to make any official appearances in-game. She will debut alongside the moon maiden in Version Luna VI.
But that doesn’t mean the game has no mention of her. Tidbits of her lore have been included in the story since Version 1.0 in the Liyue book collection “Springs of Hidden Jade”, which describes her as a “golden-eyed woman”. She was mentioned again in Version 5.3’s Liyue “Springtime Charms” event, and was further described as a “gold-eyed celadon mare”.
Who is Zibai in Genshin Impact?
Zibai seems to be connected to Istaroth, the Ruler of Time, as her character introduction was made by her. Istaroth poses a question to Zibai about a certain choice she made, setting up a bit of intrigue to her character. It is also important to note that Zibai was described as a “daughter” of Istaroth.
Zibai is an adeptus with the ability to transform into a beautiful and mighty white horse, and was said to have aided the Geo Archon Rex Lapis during the Archon War. Legends remember her for her enchanting golden eyes, which seem to hold the power to gaze through time itself.
Certain stories say that after the war, Zibai resigned to live on the moon–which moon however, be it the real moon or the fake moon in the sky, is a mystery. It’s likely that we’ll know more of her story during the next Archon Quest.
In her official character art, Zibai is shown wielding a Geo moon wheel. Judging from her release, she is likely to be a 5-star character. And one thing's for sure, it looks like Cavalry Captain Kaeya may get to see his herd of horses in the future. Here's to hoping!
