Stardew Valley–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition finally launches on Nintendo eShop with new features

Stardew Valley–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition comes with a few new features.

ConcernedApe launched Stardew Valley–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by surprise this week, seemingly to time the release with Christmas Day in certain timezones. The game is now available on Nintendo eShop for US$14.99, but anyone who already owns the game can easily upgrade to the next-gen version for free.

Stardew Valley–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition gets official launch

Stardew Valley’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition was announced earlier in September 2025, allowing existing Nintendo Switch players to access next-gen features for the game. Following its announcement, however, the next-gen port went several months without confirmation of an actual release date.

This week, that changed. Stardew Valley–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has finally launched, adding a bunch of new next-gen features for the game. These features will mainly benefit multiplayer enjoyers, with local split-screen co-op support now expanded for up to four players. Online multiplayer support also includes up to eight players now.

Stardew Valley–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also includes intuitive mouse controls, allowing players to move their furniture around and organise their inventory more easily. This makes use of the new Joy-Cons’ mouse-like capabilities. Players can also use Game Share to invite up to three friends to play, even if they don’t actually own the game.

Stardew Valley is a farming sim that has players refurbish an old farm plot in the titular Stardew Valley. They’ll craft and upgrade tools to keep the form profitable, while adventuring in the monster-filled mines for resources, and befriending villagers in the local town. The game can also be played in multiplayer, allowing up to eight people to work the farm together.

Stardew Valley–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is now available for US$14.99.
