MinD_ContRoL joins Indonesian Dota 2 team REKONIX as trial coach

Legendary player MinD_ContRoL lands in Southeast Asia for the first time to trial as REKONIX’s coach.

In a surprising announcement, Indonesian Dota 2 team REKONIX has revealed the arrival of legendary world champion Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Borislavov Ivanov as the team's trial coach. This landmark move marks MinD_ContRoL's first venture into coaching, as well as his first appearance in the region, as he now helps steer the ship of a rising Southeast Asian powerhouse.

What is REKONIX’s Dota 2 roster?

REKONIX’s line-up features all-Indonesian talent, with the full roster listed below:

  1. Musthofa “jikroy” Dzikry Pamungkas
  2. Muhammad “InYourDream” Rizky
  3. Saieful “Fbz” Ilham
  4. Abdalla “Dalul” Afemi
  5. Rizki “Varizh” Varizh
  6. Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Borislavov Ivanov (Trial coach)

MC joins REKONIX ahead of major events and qualifiers

Many will be familiar with MinD_ContRoL's legacy, having won The International 2017 with Team Liquid, before later going through brief stints with Tundra Esports and Shopify Rebellion. However, fewer fans may know much about the newly established Southeast Asian side.

REKONIX was formed ahead of this season in July 2025, assembling top Indonesian talent in a bid to spark a local resurgence in Dota 2. Names such as InYourDream, formerly of Fnatic, and Fbz, who notably played for Nigma Galaxy and Team Secret, are among the line-up.

Initially, the team struggled to break into the global scene, but improved significantly as 2026 began, winning back-to-back closed qualifiers to reach BLAST Slam VI and then the major ESL One Birmingham

Those qualifications marked major progress, especially as the team managed to defeat strong Southeast Asian contenders such as Team Nemesis and Execration

At the Tier 1 events, REKONIX couldn't quite make any impact, finishing in bottom place at both tournaments. Still, the team is now one of the frontrunners of the region and their commitment to the season is loud and clear with MinD_ContRoL now on board. His arrival also comes at a crucial mid-season stage, with several major tournaments approaching, as well as the all-important qualifiers for the Dota 2 Esports World Cup and The International 2026.

But before those high-stakes battles arrive, fans can look forward to MinD_ContRoL's coaching debut with REKONIX at DreamLeague Season 29, set to begin on 13 May.
