Raven departs from Fnatic

Fnatic are down to three players at the end of an eventful and stressful competitive season.

Following Anucha "Jabz" Jirawong’s departure from the team last week, Marc "Raven" Fausto will also be looking into new opportunities for the next year’s Dota Pro Circuit. According to the official announcement made by the organization, Raven’s contract came to an end after The International 2022, and both parties agreed to explore new options.

Raven returned to Fnatic in 2020 and through this second stint with the team, he got to play at two TI editions, though without much success. At TI10, Fnatic got eliminated in the second round of the lower bracket by Team Spirit, the team who would eventually make a full lower bracket comeback and write one of the biggest cinderella stories.

The season leading to TI11 was a true roller coaster for Fnatic, who at the end of the DPC season were initially believed not to have even secured a spot at the most important tournament of the year. A last minute confirmation from Valve, who revealed that they were using a different system for point calculations, placed Fnatic half a point above Outsiders, and allowed them to get a ticket to TI11 without going through regional qualifiers.

Unfortunately for them, the TI11 came with an even worse result than the previous year. Fnatic were eliminated by Gaimin Gladiators in the first lower bracket round, exiting the tournament only in the 17th-18th place.

Tough losses, especially on the TI stage, are usually followed by tough decisions and Fnatic parting ways with two of their pillars, Raven and Jabz, being one of those decisions.
