Just a day after they parted ways with Fly, who decided to switch regions for the new competitive year and went to Southeast Asia, Evil Geniuses go down to three players as iceiceice is also departing from the team.
The Singaporean veteran offlaner, Daryl Koh "iceiceice" Pei Xiang played this year from the North American region for the first time in his long standing career. He made the switch from SEA to NA ahead of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit, citing a genuine interest in playing from a different region. He left Fnatic behind and went on a journey to TI10 with Evil Geniuses and had a marvellous DPC run, reaching the grand finals of both Majors in 2021.
Given their dominant year, EG were regarded as one of the main favourites at the title, but a subpar performance in the group stage threw them in the lower bracket of the TI10 main event and their run was cut short only in the 9th-12th place finish. The TI10 result was one of the worst in the organization’s history and by the looks of how the post-event shuffle is developing, it brings with it significant changes to the roster.
Evil Geniuses current roster:
Artour “Arteezy” Babaev
Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop
Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen
The roster lock deadline is set for November 21, which leaves only a couple of days until all teams entering the first Tour of the 2021-22 Dota Pro Circuit will have to announce their line-ups.
