Northern Arena BEAT Invitational loses another squad as Team Liquid decided to drop out citing roster issues. Replacing them are the Greeks from Ad Finem.
After NP was announced last night to replace Digital Chaos at the Montreal LAN event, today Northern Arena BEAT Invitational had to find a replacement for Team Liquid. The Boston Majors European qualifiers winners, Ad Finem answered the call and will travel to Canada next week to compete for the $100,000 prize pool.
Liquid’s decision to withdraw shouldn’t come as a surprise given the serious performance issues the European squad displayed in the past few months. Although the team hasn’t announced anything yet regarding their roster, according to the NA BEAT Invitational organizers, Liquid reasoning for withdrawing are the imminent changes to their team. At the same time, there are a lot of rumors going around Liquid’s roster, and all point to a replacement for Kanishka Sam 'BuLba' Sosale. As a matter of fact, yesterday Liquid played with a substitute for BuLba in their Elimination Mode series versus Kaipi followed today by a canceled match up against Escape in the same tournament.
While Liquid and other strong names from Europe and CIS are traversing some dark times, one team is flourishing more with every day, making the Greek community proud. The lions from Ad Finem had an amazing start of the season so far, winning the Boston Major European qualifiers by defeating the likes of Alliance, Na’Vi, Team Secret, and Team Liquid and are now set to attend their first LAN event pre Boston Major.
Although their participation in Northern Arena BEAT Invitational was decided with only six days before the event is scheduled to kick off, and there’s supposedly little to no time to prepare for it, this tournament should provide the Greeks a good deal of insight on some of the favorites for Boston Major. If, hopefully, no other changes are made to the NA BEAT Invitational, Ad Finem can potentially play versus Wings Gaming, Evil Geniuses or EHOME.
