Team Spirit announce new Dota 2 roster as Collapse and Miposhka take a break

Three-time TI-winning organisation Team Spirit will field two new members ahead of BLAST Slam VIII.

Team Spirit, the reigning Dota 2 world champions who lifted their historic third Aegis of Champions in Shanghai last month, have now unveiled their roster changes for the 2026-2027 competitive season.

Offlaner Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov and coach Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov are both taking a break from the professional scene. Stepping into the vacant positions are Bohdan “Batyuk” Batiuk from Team Spirit academy team Yellow Submarine, and coach Ilya “IllidanSTR” Pevcaev, who previously played for Spirit multiple times and also worked with Yellow Submarine.

The announcement specifically highlighted the changes being for the upcoming BLAST Slam VIII, so this might not be a permanent arrangement.

Team Spirit is one of the teams that fans will be watching closely in the new season after pulling off an unprecedented third world championship, defeating giants TEAM VISION (also known as PARIVISION) 3-2 in The International (TI) 2026 grand finals.

However, the triumphant roster will not continue together, at least in the immediate future, as Collapse and Miposhka opt for career breaks.

On the All Chat podcast, Collapse stated that he is rediscovering his hunger for the game and may need five to six months away from competitive play. This could mean a return to the team in the first quarter of 2027.

Meanwhile, Miposhka, who shared the first two world championships with the team as a player and the third as a coach, will be stepping away indefinitely. He made a last-minute return to the roster as a coach ahead of the TI 2026 qualifier phase and undoubtedly helped steer the talent-packed roster to its historic victory despite the team enduring a difficult season.

With two members now inactive, Team Spirit, in their usual fashion, have appointed a player from their academy squad, Yellow Submarine. Batyuk will be stepping into Collapse’s shoes, but this won’t be his first rodeo. Batyuk has stood in for Team Spirit twice, first at PREMIER SERIES and later at PGL Wallachia Season 8, both in April 2026.

Meanwhile, Illidan has played for Team Spirit during the team’s early formation. He briefly represented Spirit in 2016 before returning to the squad in 2018 for a full season. He was also previously the coach of Yellow Submarine in 2016.

Team Spirit will debut their new roster at BLAST Slam VIII, which kicks off on 29 September.
