Phoenix joins Terroblade in tomorrow's patch. As leaked earlier today, the new mode Replay Takeover will allow players to join in a replay at any timestamp and take over from there, playing the heroes.
It turns out, Terrorblade was not the only new hero sneaking into the realm of Dota 2 (announced yesterday). Today, it is revealed that Phoenix will be joining him. When Phoenix arrived into the old WarCraft 3: DotA map, there were multiple complaints everywhere (similar to Earth Spirit's reception in Dota 2) and he was even banned from pub games played at Dota-League.com. After numerous of reworks, it appeared more and more that the hero was not worked through completely and required a lengthy period of balances. Remains to be seen if the Dota 2 community will be ready for the bird to arise from it's own ashes. Nevertheless, here he is and here is what he can do:
Icarus Dive - Swoop forward in a fierce arc, slowing and damaging all enemies in your path.
Fire Spirits - Spend health to summon spirits which can be launched at your foes to burn them over time.
Sun Ray - Sacrifice vitality to blast your enemies, and heal your allies, with a beam of searing light.
Supernova - Become a core of fusing energy that burns nearby enemies which, if allowed to detonate, will stun foes and renew your strength.
Have you wanted to go back to a specific point of your life and change a decision you made then or change a certain act? To travel through time, change something and see what effects it would have on your contemporary life? Well, we are not quite there yet but at least you will be able to go back to a certain point of a Dota 2 game and play it differently. Earlier today, Perfect World leaked an upcoming Dota 2 mode referred to as "Replay Takeover" in which ten players join a game through a replay and start playing the game from any specific time stamp. Just now, the mode was officially announced as part of the New Bloom Day 3 update. It will only be possible for matches played after the New Bloom though, so not possible to relive "The Play" or the most recent TI3 final.
Memory brings up the "Compendium Mode" which was active during the time prior to The International 3, where players could play a pre-selected line-up used in the qualifiers for The International 3. It was not too popular though, turned out it was no success to be forced into certain line-ups and certain heroes. Hard to say if the Replay Takeover mode will be more attractive as a casual thing or if it will mostly be used for teams looking to train certain scenarios versus each other.
The New Bloom Festival patch will go live into the test client tonight and the main client will welcome it tomorrow. Other features mentioned are;
Items that have been purchased while dead can now be sold, if that item was bought during the same death. Previously, no items could be sold while dead.
Highlighting an allied Ward will now display its effective range.
Holding ALT and clicking on an ability will now issue a context-sensitive ping for that ability. This can be used to indicate whether the pinged ability is ready for use, if you do not have enough mana to use this ability, or to indicate the number of seconds remaining on that ability’s cooldown.Phoenix
- Fire Spirits Attack Speed slow reduced from 150 to 80/100/120/140
- Fire Spirits can now be cast during Icarus Dive
- Fire Spirits DPS reduced from 20/40/60/80 to 15/35/55/75
- Icarus Dive is now interrupted if you are stunned during it
