PGL Major Stockholm: FaZe Clan exits Major Stockholm on Day 8

Two Cinderella journeys also end as the clock strikes twelve and their carriage turns into pumpkins.

As we reached the end of the New Legends stage, we saw three matches that decided the final three teams heading to the playoffs stage, the Champions stage. This round saw two fairy tale runs ended, and the exit of a famous team from the competition.

Entropiq vs Team Vitality

The first team to experience a fairy tale run in the Majors, Entropiq unfortunately saw a back-to-back loss in rounds 3 and 4. Round 5 was meant to be the round that they rise again and move on to Champions.

Unfortunately, they met up with Team Vitality. They are running on a winning momentum from rounds 3 and 4, and their performance showed that they are a team not to be messed with. They won the first map, Mirage in a tight match 16-14, and faltered a bit in the second map, Overpass, where Entropiq managed to grab a win.

However, in the third map, Dust2, Vitality shined as a team to lead the narrative of the match from the get-go. Entropiq only managed to win a few matches here and there, but the game was all but over at round 21, where Vitality won 16-5.

Team Vitality won 2-1

Outsiders vs FaZe Clan

The battle of these two giant names in the scene was highly anticipated, and what a match they delivered. FaZe did grab a win in the first round, where they won 16-13. Unfortunately map 2, Ancient is where FaZe faltered and VP grabbed the win 16-14.

In map 3, Overpass, VP continued their dominance over FaZe with win after win. VP took win after win in both halves, and in the end, FaZe did manage to catch up to Virtus.pro at round 27 where VP won 16-11.

Virtus.pro won 2-1.

Copenhagen Flames vs Ninjas in Pyjamas

The final game of the round saw Copenhagen Flames who had been enjoying a nice run through Challengers and Legends stage before facing their first roadblocks in the earlier rounds in Legends. Round 5 was the last chance for both teams to see who can move onwards to the Champions stage.

Copenhagen started strong on the first map, Nuke, where they won 16-10. But NiP got back up and dominated the second map, Inferno, with a 16-13 score.

It is the last map, Ancient, where the pedal met the metal for both teams. The round was played to a tie at round 30, forcing a time extension. Copenhagen tried their best to win the required maps, but a clutch in the last round by NiP saw Copenhagen Flame’s exit all but certain.

Ninjas in Pyjamas won 2-1.

The wins here meant that TeamVitality, Virtus.pro and Ninjas in Pyjamas are through to the playoffs at the Avicii Arena, while Entropiq, FaZe Clan and Copenhagen Flames are all out of the competition.
